Howza — Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2026-06-03 · CHPX · support@chpx.com.br
Howza is a Chrome extension that records your clicks while you are actively recording a guide
and turns them into step-by-step documentation. This policy explains exactly what data is handled.
What Howza captures — and when
- Only while you are recording. Capture starts when you click “Start recording” and stops when
you click “Stop”. Howza never captures in the background.
- For each click during a recording, Howza stores a screenshot of the visible tab, the clicked
element’s visible label, the page title and URL, and the click position.
Where your data is stored
- On your device by default. Guides and screenshots are saved locally via
chrome.storage.local and never leave your computer unless you act.
- When you click “Write steps with AI”, the text metadata of your steps (labels, page titles, URLs)
is sent to our backend and to OpenAI to generate captions. Screenshots are not sent for caption-writing.
- When you click “Publish & share”, the selected guide (captions and screenshots) is uploaded to
our backend so it can be viewed at a shareable link. You choose if and when to publish.
What we do not do
- We do not sell your data.
- We do not track your browsing or run analytics on the pages you visit.
- We do not capture anything outside an explicit recording session.
Permissions
Host access (<all_urls>) is requested only when you start your first recording, so Howza can
screenshot and read the visible label of the page you are documenting. storage saves your guides
locally, downloads exports them, and scripting/activeTab/tabs
let Howza capture the page you record.
Your choices
Delete any guide from the editor at any time. Uninstalling Howza removes all locally stored guides.
To delete a published guide or your account data, email support@chpx.com.br.
